Upcoming Events & Other info

Hi All!

Your Network has met and scratched out a plan for the year.  You will notice the changes to 'Calendar' on right of screen.  This plan is still in its infancy and therefore is subject to change.  If we find we have more time to plan we may even increase the number of events we will host this year - so check the blog regularly for updates!

Monday 4th April 4:15-6pm is our next meeting date.  The first 45 minutes will be an information sharing session on 'Books and related activities'. We would ask you all to bring along a book and activities that can be used with the book - literacy, numeracy, science or any other subject you like.  It is not just a session for lower primary, as we know that many books can be used as an introductory stimulus for all kinds of topics, so we would love to see upper primary and secondary teachers too.

If possible, it would be great if I could have the activities emailed to the CRT Network address (
crt.somerville@yahoo.com.au) by Friday 1st April, so that I can get them printed and copied in advance. Tried and tested activities are good, but please feel free to pick a book you like and have a go at something new - we will be your guinea pigs!

The second part of the session will be presented by Andrew Felsinger, Principal at Somerville Rise P.S.  He will outline the job application process and present his ideas on the expectations of CRTs from a Principal's perspective. He is very supportive of the CRT Network and will do his best to answer any questions you may have.

Please confirm your attendance at the above PD by 31st March, so that we can make catering arrangements, etc. Afternoon tea will be provided and we ask if you could please make a $2 contribution, to cover the refreshment costs that are not funded by the DEECD.

A certificate of Professional Development will be provided to attendees; the 2 hours can count towards your PD requirements for VIT registration.

Please note additions to the Recommended Websites list - Pdi regularly list free PD for teachers that are applicable for CRTs and the AEU has a fantastic session planned for the 14th April which is specifically aimed at CRTs "Your Room, My Rules.  Classroom Management for CRTs - resister at www.tln.org.au

If you ever have any questions do not hestitate to post them on this blog, don't be shy!!  We are here to help!

Signed

Sue, Rosemary, Karen & Jane
